great guy. once slapped, on the first day of a new class in 1971, the class thug in the ear so hard, that the resident class thug, did'nt't lay a hand ever on anyone, or open his mouth, for fear of what O'Hara would do to him. Well done Mick. same guy had viciously wrecked other teachers, and students. not a word out of him in O'HARAS class subsequently. Great lesson in dealing with bullies. Learned plenty of science too, without further disruption. thks, Mick.
Punched me in the stomach once, but was such a nice guy I couldn't care less. Knew only Physics (in depth) but nothing of Biology which meant my Junior Cert Science result wasn't what it should have been.
Just awful as a teacher! Never tried to explain or teach. I cannot understand his popularity. I can only assume people see his laziness as a sign of soundness but he's not like a lazy student who is t
late for class and smoked 100 rothmans a day. Great character and teacher though.
in 1st year he was a myth, in 2nd he was terrifying, by the time i left the man was a bloody legend & friend
A sound example of what ya get when you combine physics with smithwicks, fond memories and unique style not for everyone, but those it suited, got more than an education in physics
I will never forget when he hit you know who in the head with the duster. Gilmartin made him say sorry...lucky he wasnt jailed! A good guy though!
" stand up on your hind legs". not a good teacher andspends half of his time shouting and giving out to people.
This is a legend of a teacher. He Likes stroking his rod a lot and is good at knocking science into you, has something other teachers just don't have. :)
"when I say intereference I am not talking about a man you meet in the park with a trenchcoat. This is electrical interference"
sound bloke, approachable, sad to see hes gone, really drilled physics into you.
yer mam deserved the duster thrown at him!still does.well done o'hara.
Sound guy.Scored 2 18 year old birds at our debs. The students who brought the birds weren't too impressed though
Never had him as a teacher, but thought our class more in one stand in session in Maths than Ray K did in 2 years. Not as funny tho'
pity about his need to throw chalk dusters like the big one of '95. good man C.N.
Sound man, really drilled science into you, never a dull moment in his classes!
Very average teacher. His pre-leaving cert "hint talk" was legendary. Through inside knowledge he knew what was coming up on the exam - otherwise he was crap
