Always had interesting classes with Mannix, what more can a student ask for
I remember thinking when he was teaching that he was very poor. But as i have grown up and many years later i realize that he was probably one of the best teachers i had throughout my education (school and college etc).
Got me an A in history for my junior cert, so people saying he is a bad teacher are relying on him to do the work for them, Thanks for the memories!!
more than 10 years later. 2 degrees and still have not come across another teacher like him. He just romped through the entire sylabus. nice guy, memorable but not for leaving cert. very depressive
this is s.s here nd i tink that mr.berrrry is a legendnd he inspired me 2 be the brainbox i am taday.... he tot me for too yeers nd as u can sea im totally literate in englisch..
he has two rules in his class #1 the teacher is always right #2 if the teacher is ever wrong refer back to #1 and do not get me started on those catch phrase!!!!!
its true he is sound out but i cant believe im saying this but i wish we had someone else because i dont learn anything from him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
legend very good teacher and anyone who says otherwise must not be that good a student
An inspiration to me. He is idealistic in the best possible way and the way he teaches encourages you not only to be a good student but a good person. V.funny and is a living legend
Been on the start of the first book since the start of the year! Cannot answer any questions . Never sticks to the point . Completely Overrated.Total Hypocrit.Very tired catchphrases
15 years on - "Chuck" still comes up in conversation and always with respect and reverence. We were lucky to have a teacher as inspiring as Mannix. He may have left the curriculim aside from time to time and may not have been the most inspiring teacher to struggling students but he did so much more than others in that he encouraged and stimulated lateral thinking, discussion, mature reason and debate. Proud to have been in his class. John Kennedy.
funniest teacher EVER! Lots of sayings, eg: "If you put your hand in the cookie jar, You must face the consequences" & "Did I ever tell you about the football?"
A inspirational teacher, a class I looked forward to attending and will always remember.
Great teacher. I always looked forward to his classes...
Really cares about his students, brilliant teacher!!!
Great teacher who also taught logic, debating skills, current affairs, critical analysis and other life skills. Did not however, like to be disagreed with !!
Great teacher and his care and interest in his students is unmatched.
Probably the best teacher i ever had.His class was not only an English class but also a "life class".He is a wonderful & inspirational teacher and person.
Great teacher, really cares about al of his students.
he is as sound as a pound but is noot a good teacher! he doesn't get his point across to the students! thats my opinion!
great man4making up statistics-"it would take 12trillion 128billion 476million 9thousand 3hundred and 8 english pounds to pay off world debt"-great teacher tho
great teacher, it's only when you hit college you realise that you know more than anyone else because of him
JFK, Back and to the left, back and to the left. Cubans Airplane KGB Shannon etc etc Can't say a bad word against Mr. Berry
Mr Berry is a great teacher and a very interesting and nice, helpful man.
Had him for history in second year and he was top class! He goes beyond the syllabus and always has something interesting to say. A1!
really sound guy. Is helpful and if ur on his good side will help you out
this guy got me through my english leaving cert with a high B
nice man but a bad teacher leaves all the work to you dont get ur hand caught in the cookie jar or u could b writting til it falls off !!!!
Not a good teacher and he prefers to watch videos than teach
A little self opinionated, is our Mannix. As correspondents have been saying, it really depnded on one's own efforts.
He broadened our understanding with time and newsweek. A great teacher
Such a helpful man always willing to lend a hand and genuinely cares about his students. A man who really enjoys what he does. Never without a cup of tea!
he is a very intelligent person and a very nice man and gets on well with his class, but,he does not know how to teach and all the work has to be done yourself
Come on you know he rules -Just listen in class and read at home thats how to get an A in his class. Just don't get your hand caught in the cookie jar.
dis guy is a legend-im in college studyin english now+i stil luv to talk 2 him everytime i meet him!-such a character!
not a bad teacher, wud prob be better as a university lecturer, has some rather arbitary ideas with regard to the english syllabus. a legend really..
Mr. Berry I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!He is seriously the cutest funniest coolest teacher EVER!He makes students really think things out for themselves.
i dont know why people are giving bad comments on mr. berry,im in one of his classes now and have to say its my favourite class!hes very interesting!
he's great at teaching what he teachs...too bad it isn't what we need for our exams!
has an opinion on everything. doesnt care what you think
Mr.Berry I think your a nice man but i just think you would be better as a philosopher/common sence teacher.
Great teacher. Loved his class, he has a real knowledge and love for the subject. Helped me get my A in the leaving cert.....Great teacher, lazy students....
One of the few teachers in the school with a genuine love for his subject
"If you're caught with your hand in the cookie jar".......Who can finish this off?? Well we learned something anyway!
Mannix is a great teacher. Loved his English class. Always full of quotes and ideas. Wouldn't have got my B in the Leaving Cert if it wasn't for him. Etu Mannix
