Barney Rush taught me Chenistry between 1964 and 1967. He was an outstanding teacher. Tough but clear at a time when most teachers were not. Stephen McManus Leaving Certificate 1967

First day i had him he choked a pupil for not having a hard backed note book!! The class worked after that. Small man big presence, fantastic teacher. Reason i am a chemist today. Pity hes gone, will be remembered "yeah"

Brilliant teacher. Had his ways of course but was known as the B Machine. Got so many As and Bs in Higher Chemistry. Best in the country

U cud hear a pin drop in his class. He had total obedience like u cud never imagine. Most say he was the best teacher, but I hated the subject & didnt do great.
