A true gentle man but a terrible teacher! When we had double french he'd let us 'sleep' for the second class if we worked for the first. The only he taught us for the oral was 'je nais compren pais'
Was a great form teacher always backed us up. Good teacher and a lovely man. We like to think of ourselves as the year that lowered the bar for all that followed, Aidan agreed. Class of 2001, ave it.
As first years, he kept giving us Chinese burns on their arms. His jock/rugby persona? I thought he protested way too much.
"Nose to the board!" Penfold was a real old Dublin character, rugby genius, rather opaque Bohemian teacher for such a jock. Great old story about him fighting off burglars.
"Ta fainne ag an doras." A linguistic joke. Fascinating bloke. Spent most of our art class talking to his stockbroker. Decent French teacher if unfocused. Easy to like. PN
nice guy and a good laugh but had him in his last year and jus didnt care bout teaching us and i was doin my leaveing cert.
unofficially broke the Irish weight lifting record in 1984? "that deserves a sweet" if you taught you then you'd understand.Teached when it suited him, played rugby in his sleep.
Pity he didnt win SCT in 1985! he was brillliant, had him for french for 6 yrs and was great, big into sports and prob gave more to the school than virtually anyone else.
total ledgo!!!!!!!!! grrreat guy funnies and fun galor, failed leavin doooh lol lol
What a man! Teaching was 2nd on the list after having a laugh. Worked for us all though! Cryan always tried to rob his orange. Great French films too!!!
great guy, very friendly and helpful, a bit too friendly at times, particulary towards richie hanley and dereck dowling
AJ is a legend in De La Salle. Great teacher if the kids show an interest. A brill rugby coach too.
Good teacher at times, sound guy, a barrel of laughs ha
Aidan Kenna was a teaching Legend!!! Rarely would a story of my schooldays not feature him. Especially the stunts my 6th year hons French used to pull!
If you were willing to learn-he was willing to teach you extremely well. One of the most down to earth and best teachers you could ever meet.
Had him a few years back, what a teacher!i got an A1 in higher french with this guy, a total ledge and a magnifacent teacher!!!!LEDGEND,LEDGEND,LEDGEND!
The best teacher in the school but i still managed to fail my French in junior cert due to him.
Taught french on the spur of the moment, never used a book, unorthodox to say the least, bit it worked! Knew how to doss - "Jean de florette/Mamon de source"X50
top man, good laugh, wouldn't be the best teacher but makes up for it in other ways, play rugger and ur sorted
had him for Geography in my leaving. He was out most of the year. I did get an honour but had to go to the Institute to catch up. Had plenty of time for rugby
One of the best teachers / nice guys that the college has ever had. Dave Cosgrave (1972)
